FAQs
What is ROAM?
ROAM is a web service that connects expats and long-term travellers to healthcare services. Our service is made up of a health system guide, curated service directory, and concierge booking system – specific for each city in which we operate. We have launched in Tokyo and will expand to Seoul and Singapore later this year.
Is ROAM a healthcare provider?
No, ROAM is not a healthcare provider.
Is it free to use?
Yes! ROAM is completely free to use.
How do I book an appointment?
To book an appointment, submit a request through the ROAM Concierge page. This page is accessible through the
Tokyo homepage as well as each provider profile. Once you submit a request, we’ll reach out via email to set up an appointment.
How does ROAM curate the providers in its directory?
We have done countless hours of research and consulted with healthcare experts in each city to ensure that we only list the best English-speaking providers. Additionally, we have contacted each provider to ensure all the information is accurate.
I’m sick in a new city. Where do I start?
Don’t panic! Becoming unwell in a new place can be very unsettling, but we’re here to help. If it's an emergency, call that country’s emergency telephone number (i.e. USA – 911, UK – 999, Japan – 119). If not, go to ROAM’s health guide and service directory to see what type of provider and specialty is right for you. Once you know what you need, submit an appointment request and we’ll book one for you ASAP.
What is ROAM Concierge?
ROAM Concierge is our personalised booking system. Submit a request through the ROAM Concierge booking form and we’ll set up an appointment for you.
Why is ROAM only in Tokyo?
We have to start somewhere! Tokyo is an incredible city that receives millions of international visitors every year. However, it can still be quite daunting trying to find English-speaking medical services here, so we believe it is a great place to start.
Does ROAM work with any insurance partners?
Currently, we do not work directly with any insurance providers. We are happy to work with you to find a hospital or clinic that accepts your insurance.
When will ROAM launch in more cities?
We will launch in Seoul and Singapore later this year. Eventually we’ll be everywhere 😊
What does the future hold for ROAM?
In the near future, our plan is to launch in more cities and form closer relationships with both providers and patients. In the long term, we plan to build a complete global health platform; a one-stop shop for all your medical needs at home and abroad.
